Oxygen is divalent .means it can have only two bonds..
and hydrogen is monovalent,, so how come three hydrogen atoms bind with a single oxygen atom..
The correct answer is HNO3 + H2O --------------------> H3O+ + NO3-
please note + and - signs in the product side!!
