Salt A - probably baking soda -  sodium bicarbonate :  Na  HCO₃ .    It is a white solid powder.

When it is heated,  2 Na HCO₃  ==>  Na₂ CO₃ + H₂O + CO₂

Sodium carbonate is  a white powder - which is washing soda.. it removes hardness of water.

The gas is carbon dioxide.

When it is passed through lime water, (calcium hydroxide - Ca (OH)₂ ),  then calcium carbonate Ca CO₃  white precipitate is formed.
