Solid carbon dioxide is known as dry ice. It sublimes at –78°C becoming an extremely cold gas. It is often used in theatres or nightclubs to produce clouds (looking a bit like smoke). Because it is denser than the air, it stays low.

The solidified form of CO2 is known as dry ice. It was named so because of its characteristics of being 10 times as cold as ice and it does not even wets the surface on which it is kept because it directly gets converted from dry ice solid to CO2 gas .
