A cone of radius 4 cm is divided into two parts by drawing a plane through the mid point of its axis and parallel to its base. Compare the volumes of the

two parts

Let height of cone be x cm

So, height of upper part of cone = x/2 cm
So, radius of upper part of cone = 2cm

So, volume of upper part of cone = 1/3*22*7*2*2*x/2 cm2
volume of lower part of cone = 1/3*22*7*4*4*x cm2

So, ratio of volumes of 2 parts = 2/4*4 = 2/16 = 1/8 = 1:8
