Let the age of two children be x and y
Given , the sum of parents age is 65 and the sum of parents age is 5 times the sum of the age of their two children
⇒65 = 5(x+y)------(1)
Also given that the elder child is three years more than the younger child
⇒x= 3+y---------(2)
⇒65 = 5[(3+y)+y]
⇒65 = 5(3+2y)
⇒65 = 15+10y
⇒10y = 65-15
⇒10y = 50
⇒y=50/10 = 5
Now,x = 3+y = 3+5 = 8
Therefore , x = 8 and y = 5.
