(A) SELLING 10 PENS WILL GAIN A PROFIT OF 10x5 = 50
BUT SHE EARNS A PROFIT OF ONLY 30 IN THAT MONTH, THIS MEANS THAT 20 RUPEES HAVE BEEN REDUCED FROM THAT PROFIT. SINCE EACH PENCIL INCURS A LOSS OF RS. 1 TO THE SELLER, IT SHOWS THAT 20 PENCILS HAVE BEEN SOLD IN THAT PERIOD.
(B) IN THE FOLLOWING MONTH, SHE SOLD 20 PENS, THIS MEANS SHE PROFITS RUPEES 20X5 = 100. BUT SINCE SHE ACTUALLY HAD NO PROFIT, THEREFORE IT IS VERY CLEAR THAT SHE SOLD 100 PENCILS AND INCURRED A LOSS OF RS.1 ON EACH.
