Keeping the food in air tight container will prevent from rancidity (oxidation of fats) and won't let it come in contact with oxygen and moisture and so it won't get spoilt.

Keeping food in air tight container wiil prevent it from drying,getting soggy,developing freezer burn,n absorbs odour.it stops food frm spoiling.
