Yes absorption is completely different from assimilation...absorption means the process by which the end products of digestion passes through the intestinal mucosa and reach blood or lymph...whereas assimilation is the process in which the digested food particles finally reaches the tissues and get converted into integral components of living protoplasm which used for energy production.
