A rectangular courtyard is 18m72cm and 13m20cm broad. It is to be paved with square tiles of the same size. Find the vast possible no.of such filters.

Length of courtyard = 18m 72cm = 1872 cm
width of courtyard = 13m 20cm = 1320 cm

Area = length × width = (1872 × 1320) cm²

If you want to pave it by square tiles of same size,
then the length of the square tile should be such that both length and width can be covered fully, without anything remaining.
So find the HCF of length and width.

HCF of 1320 and 1872 = 24
Area of one square tile = (24×24) cm²

Number of tiles =  \frac{1872 \times 1320}{24 \times 24}=4290 tiles

So minimum number f tiles required is 4290.
