To determine whether (x+4)  is a factor of x³+3x²-5x+36 = 0    or not
When the given equation is divided by (x+4) then we must the get the remainder as zero then we can say (x+4) is a factor of given equation.
x+4)x³+3x²-5x+36(x²+x-9
      -x³-4x²
      0+x²-5x+36
         -x²-4x
         0-9x +36
           +9x+36
             0  +72
As the remainder is not equal to zero x+4 is not a factor of given equation.

Another method x+4=0 ⇒x=-4
if we substitute x= -4 in the given equation if we get the value as zero then x+4 is a factor of the given equation.
By substituting we get -64 + 48 + 20 +36 whose value is not equal to zero there fore (x+4) is not a factor of given equation.
