Onomatopoeia means a word which imitates the natural sounds of a thing. For instance it creates a sound effect that mimics the thing which is described making the description of that particular thing more expressive and interesting. For eg., saying, “The whoosh of the tree made me shudder with fright.” is a more meaningful description than just saying, “The tree made me shudder with fright.”
