Alpha particles are doubly charged helium.
Acc. to Rutherford's atomic model,
They hit the thin gold leave in the form of rays and help in the determination of the structure of an atom. Most of the rays pass through-some of the rays are slightly deflected and some are completed deflected.The rays which are completely deflected because of the nucleus's positive charge.
