When an object is in motion how much distance it covers per unit time or simply second in a straight line and in a specific direction is known as the Velocity.
AND THE DISTANCE IS NOT THE CURVED PATH BUT IT IS A STRAIGHT LINE OF THE ORIGINAL POSITION AND THE FINAL POSITION OF THE OBJECT IN A SPECIFIC DIRECTION  IS CALLED DISPLACEMENT.
Displacement differs from distance and Velocity differs from the Speed
Velocity is a physical vector quantity and is defined as the rate of change of displacement
Its formula is
v=S/t
And v-dx/dt in calculus terms
