Linear equations are deployed in physics to calculate rate from two variables.
for example if we need to find how fast or slow an object is moving with the the time then we deploy the linear equation.

so rate r= (change in position) / ( change in time)
mathematically put

r= (d2-d1)/(t2-t1)
r is rate
d1 is initial position
d2 is final position
t1 is initial time period
t2 is final time period
