Let f(x) be a function .

The process : d/dx ( f(x) ) is called : Differentiation of f(x) with respect to x .

The result : d/dx f(x) = f'(x) is called : Derivative of f(x) with respect to x.

Example :

f(x) = x^2

The process you use to get d/dx ( x^2 ) is called differentiation .

The result that you obtain - ( 2x ) - is called the derivative .
