Ashoka (or Ashok) was an India's great emperor of the Mauryan Dynasty of India.Ashoka the Great ruled India from 269 BC until 232 BC.Asoka was born in 304 BC.His father name was Bindusara and Mother name was Dharma.He ascend throne in 274 BC by killing most of his brothers.Thus he got a nickname Chandashoka which means "Cruel Ashoka".Ashoka was in his eighth year of rule, his wife Devi gave birth two twins: Prince Mahindra and Princess Sanghamitra. The battle of Kalinga  became a turning point in the life of Asoka.He fought a war with the kingdom of Kalinga in which there were said to be 200,000 mortality.He decided to become a Buddhist and lead with peace, not war.Ashoka ruled for over 40 years. 50 years after his death, the Mauryan Empire came to an end
