Total amount = 60 litres
Given ratio of milk and water = 2:1
Let the quantity of milk be 2x
and of water be x
⇒ 2x+x = 60
⇒ 3x = 60
⇒ x = 60/3
∴ x = 20
Later let the quantity of milk be x  
and water be 2x
⇒ 2(20)
= 40
Therefore the increase in the amount of water = 40 - 10 = 30
∴ The quantity of water to be added is 30 litres
