Forests generally set firm to the ground and help the soil to be firm which leads to prevent the erosion of soil. They take food materials from the soil including water. As we know that they take water from the soil through roots, these roots have small membrane like structures which take water by osmosis and make them to travel through the xylem tubes to all the parts of the plant. This also gets stored in the leaves and in the stem. Forests acts as self substaining eco system by providing shade and as the forest are very dense their roots are clogged together and this leads to share the materials from the ground.
