When a stone-tied to a string is immersed in a fluid, why is there no further change in the elongation of the string when the stone is completely

Because, the wire will elongate if the object tied to it is heavy, but when it is immersed in water , the weight of the stone will become 3/4...(as the density of the stone is greater than density of water),so it then become lite....as it is not heavy ,it will not elongate
