A sphere of diameter 6cm is dropped in a right circular cylindrical vessel partly filled with water. The diameter of the cylindrical vessel is 12 cm. If

the sphere is completely submerged in water, by how much will the level of water rise in the cylindrical vessel?


The volume of the sphere = volume of the water level raised
R=radius of the sphere=6/2=3cm
volume of the sphere=4/3π R^{3}
r= radius of the cylinder=12/2=6cm, and h= height of the water level raised
volume of the cylinder where the water level is raised=π r^{2} h
4/3πR^{3}  r^{2} h
h=4*3*3*3/3*6*6=1 cm
Ans.. therefore the water is raised by 1 cm.
