Professor Morrison sold a total of three precious rings on the black market for $1,750. Holmes was able to trace all three rings and found that Morrison had sold off the second ring for $50 more than the first one, and the third ring for $600 less than the second one. How much did Morrison receive for each ring?

Let the cost of the first ring be $ x
⇒ cost of second ring = $ x+50
⇒ cost of the third ring = $ x+50-600
= $ x-550
According to the question :-
$ x+ $ x+50 + $ x-550 = $ 1750
⇒ $3x - 500 = $ 1750
⇒$ 3x = $ 1750- $ 500
⇒ $ 3x = $ 1250
⇒ $ x = $ 1250 / 3
⇒ $ x = $ 416.6666.......
∴ $ x =  $ 416.7
⇒ The cost of first ring = $ 416.7
Cost of second ring = $ 416.7 + 50 = $ 466.7
Cost of third ring = $ 416.7 - 550 = -$ 133.3
∴ the cost of each ring is +416.7, +466.7, - 133.3 $
