In a human karyotype, auto somes or "body chromosomes" (all of the non–sex chromosomes) are generally organized in approximate order of size from largest (chromosome 1) to smallest (chromosome 22).

There are 23 pairs of chromosomes.
22 pairs are autosomes and one is sex chromosome that determine sex of the baby.
Males have one Y and one X sex chromosome and females have both X sex chromosome.That's why father is responsible for the sex of baby.
