The pressure of the water on the ground floor is 4 × 10 ^ 4 Pa ( 4 × 10000) Pa and the first floor is 10 ^ 4 Pa. Find the height of the first floor. (

density of water=1000 kg m^3 and ; gravity=10m/s^2)

Pressure P at a depth H is given by:-
P=P° + Hdg(Since pressure increases as we go down from a surface of a fluid and P° is pressure at topmost level ,d is density and g is accln. due to gravity)
Here ,
P = 4x10^4 Pa
P°=10^4 Pa
so substituting:-
4x10^4 = 10^4 + (h)(10^3)(10)
=> we get
h= 3 metres...
