When a charged rod is moved towards an uncharged paper cylinder suspended by a string, the cylinder gets attracted to the rod initially but then moves away

with a jerrk. Why?


Bcoz of newtons 3rd law of motion...evry action has an equal n oppsite reaction.

No it is not because of newtons 3rd law.
When a charged body is brought near an uncharged body..the uncharged body induces opposite charge on the surface of the other body and since opposite charges attract each other,the charged body and the intially uncharged cylinder(which is now oppositely charged to to induction) attracteachother.
