A stabilizer is used for stabilizing the voltage. it means that if the supply voltage varies or gets fluctuates then it brings it back to the desired value. It achieves so by using electromagnetic regulators that use tap changers with automatic transformers. If the output voltage is not in the range, a mechanism switches the tap, to change the transformer to move the voltage in acceptable range again. it may not give a constant voltage output, but it operates the system in a safe voltage range.
