Power gives rise to vanity, this is a true fact. When we see around us, we come across many people who gain power and then become very rude and arrogant. They are proud of their achievement but they forget their duties after they gain power. The poem 'Ozymandias' compels us to see this fact of life. The king was very powerful, his pride made him vain and he had his statue built. But with the passage of time, his statue was destroyed by winds and storms and now it lay in ruins in the desert. His power did not prevent the statue from being ruined.
