During sexual reproduction , the sperms which are formed in testis are haploid. similarly the ovum formed in ovary is also haploid. when a sperm and an ovum is met a diploid structure called zygote is formed. thus , the constancy of the genetic material is made due to meiosis occuring due to the formation of sperm and ovum.
