A balloon is connected to an electric pole by a cable of length 215 metre incline at an angle 60 degree to the horizontal. Determine the height of the balloon from the ground. Also, find the height of the balloon if the angle of inclination is changed from 60 degree to 30 degree.

Let the height be h
sin60°= h/215 =√3/2
⇒h=215×1.732/2 ≈ 186.19 m
now angle change from 60° to 30°
sin30° = h'/215 = 1/2
⇒h' = 215/2 = 107.5 m

Determine the height of balloon from the ground using the trigonometric ratios
sin 60 =
 √3/2 = h/215
p=215√3/2
    =107.5 √3m
then,sin30 =h1/215
 =1/2 =h1/215
=h1=215/2=107.5m
so,height of the balloon from the ground will be =107.5√3-107.5
                                                                      =107.5(√3-1)
                                                                    =107.5 (1.732 -1)
                                                                     =107.5× 0.732
                                                                    = 78.69m
