Sitar is a stringed instrument that is used to produce sound. the sound waves are produced by vibrating the string.

veena is also a stringed instrument but derives its distinctive timbre and resonance from sympathetic strings , bridge design , a long hollow neck and a ground resonating chamber.

The most obvious diffrence is (apart from the sound) are the frets.in veena the frest are fixed on fingerboard which is allow to change the pitch by large interval.in sitar the frets are metal arcs above the fingerboard.
