Chloroplast contains the green pigment chlorophyll which absorbs radiant energy from the sun and converts it to potential energy. It then chemically combines the energy with water and carbon-dioxide via the process of photosynthesis to release the end products oxygen and glucose. Glucose is transported as sucrose and converted to an insoluble starch which acts as the reserve energy of a plant.
