Melting point is the temperature at which a solid changes to liquid. The temperature remains constant till all solid melts and forms liquid. This is because the heat that is supplied for changing from solid state to liquid state is used for overcoming and weakening the particle-particle attraction force. The solid substance thus absorbs heat energy without showing any rise in temperature until it is completely converted to liquid.
