We know that greater the polariization the greater is the posibility of formation of covant bond
it is due to when two oppositely charged ions attach with each other the positive ion attracts electrons cloud on the outermost shell of the anion towards itself and this ion also repels its positively charged nucleus. This results in the  polarization of the anion.Greater inactivity as
as the polarization increases  the covalent bond becomes strong and can't be easily dissociated
which results in less participation of the compound in other chemical reactions so it shows greater inactivity
so it is correct to say that
greater the polarization, greater is the inactivity and hence greater is the covalent character of a molecule.
