(m2>m1) F.B.D for m1 and m2

Apply newton's second law of motion

T-m1g = m1a ....(1)

m2g - T = m2a ....(2)

Given that a = g/8

Then equations 1 and 2 becomes

T- m1g = m1 x g/8

So, T= 9/8 m1g

& T= 7/8m2g

Therefore, 9/8 m1g = 7/8 m2g

hence, m1/m2 = 7/9
