When we dissolve NaOH into H2O water gets hotter because when we dissolve water is polar and attract to break bond between Na+ and OH- energy is required but due to + and - charge on H2O on breaking bond Na+ and OH- H2O molecule attract both Na+ and OH- and they get collide and release energy. in the first step energy required less than energy release in the last step so on adding NaOH in H2O , H2O gets hotter.
