Why does carbon dioxide allow the sun's heat radiation to reach Earth's surface but traps the Earth's radiated heat? (in the greenhouse effect)



The radiations which pass from carbon dioxide are of short wavelength which can pass from any transparent medium and are absorbed but radiations reflected back are of long wavelength which are trapped by carbon dioxide.
