If velocity can be negative then why momentum is always positive?

hey tell me if u get the ans
in my view velocity and momentum both are vector quantities so they posses direction as well as magnitude
but what u r co relating that i m not understanding

My frend because p=mv
if m is negative so -mx-v=mv
0 0 0
We know that p=mv
if v is in negative its shows that is it moving in opposite direction and hence the direction of momentum is also negative
