When you watch an eclipse unprotected, your iris opens wide in the darkness. This allows a lot of sun light to enter your eye when the eclipse ends and damage your retina. That is not a problem of the light, but actually a problem of your eyes.

When we look at sun during solar eclipses , our iris enlarges because it gets darker. this means more UV, infra-red and visible sun rays can enter your eyes and burn vision cells in ur retina...and make u blind.
Because of uv. When it is exposed directly to our iris the uv rays will affect the iris.
