As you say they vary directly. when x is 12 y is 18
then, if x become half=6 then y also  become equal to 9(when 18 is halved it become 9)
after it if we divide x by 3 it become 2 and y become 3

after that, if we multiply x that is equal to 12 by 2/3 it become 8 and y become= 12   (18*2/3 =36/2=8)

after that if we multiply x that is equal to 12 by 25/12 it become=25 and y that is equal to 18=37.5

this mean answer of this question is 15,20
