   Let the forty man work x hours  a day .
Therefore total number of working hours required to complete the work = Number of men *number of days to complete to work * Number of Working Hours (per day
                                                         = 40*40*x
                                                         = 1600x
                  hence the  Number of Days it will take to complete the same work by the men = 40*10*x + (40 - 5 )*10 *x + (35 - 5 )*10*x  + (30 -5)*10*x  + (25 -5)*10*x  + (20 - 5)*6.66*x
= 400x + 350 x + 300 x + 250x + 200x + 100 x
 = 1600x 
hence the Number of days = 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 +10 +6.66
                                     =56.66 days
