Given that 4(sin^4 30 + cos^4 60) - 3(cos^2 45 - sin^2 90)

We know that, sin 30 = 1/2, cos 60 = 1/2, cos 45 = 1/root 2  and sin 90 = 1

Substituting the values, we get

4(1/16 + 1/16) - 3(1/2 - 1)

4(1/8) - 3(-1/2)

1/2 + 3/2

4/2
