In a country, 7/10 of the population are Chinese. 2/3 of the remainder are Malays and the rest are Indians. If there are 60,000 Indians, how many Chinese are there?
Solution:
Let the total population of country = x
therefore , Chinese population in country = (7/10) *x
= 7x/10  .
therefore Remaining population of Country (People who are not chinese ) = total Population -  chinese population
=  x - 7/10 *x
= (10x - 7x )/10
= 3x/10
According to question ,
Malays are 2/3 or remaining population , hence
Malays people = (2/3)*(3x/10)
=  x /5

rest of the remaining population is 60,000 Indians
3x/10 - x/5 = 60,000
(15x - 10x )/50 =  60 , 000
5x / 10 = 60000
x = 10 *60000 / 5
= 1200000

Therefore Total Population of country  = 1,20,000
Hope U understand the Solution!
