⇒ x = -1/2

p(x) = 4x³ + 4x² - x - 1
p(-1/2) = 4×(-1/2)³ + 4×(-1/2)² - (-1/2) - 1
= 4×(-1/8) + 4×(1/4) + 1/2 - 1
= -1/2 + 1 + 1/2 - 1
= -1/2 + 1/2 + 1 -1
= 0
