Tipu sultan also known as the tiger of mysore was the aon of haider ali and ruled from 1782 to 1799. he controlled the profitable trade of malabar coast. he had close relations with the French and fought the famous battle of seringapatam on may 4 1799 , due to which he was killed defending his kingdom . it's said that tipu got his title - the tiger of mysore , when once he went for hunting in the forest with a french friend . there he came face to face with a tiger . his gun did not work and his daggar fell so battled the tiger with the tiger unarmed until he managed to reach his daggar . finally he was able to kill the tiger and after this he came to be known as the tiger of mysore .he also had a toy tiger which was mauling a European soldier . tipu played a major role during the colonial rule .
