Nucleus is the largest cell organelle . It has a double layered covering called nuclear membrane . The nuclear membrane has pores which allows transfer of materials from inside the nucleus to its outside , i.e., to the cytoplasm . The nucleus contains chromosomes contain DNA and protein .It carries genetic information and it is transferred from parent and daughter cells .The genes present in the nucleus are responsible for characters exhibited by the cell . The nucleus plays a central role in cellular reproduction .
