It is about finding the area and perimeter of square,rectangle,circle,parallelogram,trapezium,rhombus. there are formula for each. you should know the formula and apply it according to the sum..just specify if more explanation is needed

The only thing you need to understand for Mensuration chapter are those formulaes and its application in problems.Many a times it is also given how those formulas are derived.Its necessary for you to byheart them.But keep one thing in mind don't just byheart it but learn it.So,
Some of the important formulas for it are
Square-
Area= s*s
Perimeter=4*s
Rectangle-
Area = l*b
Perimeter= 2(l+b)
Circle -
Area= πr^2
Circumference =2 πr
Rhombus -
Area= 1/2*d1*d2
Perimeter= 4*s
Trapezium -
Area =1/2*(a+b)*h
Perimeter = Sum of all sides
Parallelogram-
Area= b*h
Perimeter = 2(l+b)
And much more about 3 dimensional shapes too.(It depends in which class you are)
If any doubts please specify.
