Tanha is a buddhist term which means thirst, craving ,desire . In Buddhist teachings the term is described as a desire or craving to get an object which provides pleasurable feelings and happiness.Buddha describes that the main cause of suffering and unhappiness in life is desire or tanha. Many times after getting everything we require, we desire for more and more and become greedy. Our needs and wishes never get satisfied and every time we wish for something more and good.In this way when our needs and wishes are not fulfilled   we become sad and disappointed. That's why in his teachings he describes that we should leave all our desires so that we will be able to lead a happy and satisfactory life.In sanskrit it means Trushna .
