Fragmentation or clonal fragmentation in multicellular or colonial organisms is a form of asexual reproduction or cloning in which an organism is split into fragments. Each of these fragments develop into mature, fully grown individuals that are clones of the original organism.examples :- sponges, acoel flatworms, some annelid worms and sea stars.
Fragmentation is a type of asexual reproduction. spirogyra is an example of it. spirogyra is a type of alga found in ponds and other water bodies with stagnant water. a spirogyra filament breaks up into two or more fragments. these fragments grow and develop into new individuals. as this process continues, the whole pond may get greenish.
