The Battle of Plassey took place on 23rd June, 1757 between British East India Company and the Nawab of Bengal and his French allies resulting in the decisive victory for the British East India Company.

The battle took place at Palashi, West Bengal, on the riverbanks of the Bhagirathi River, about 150 km north of Calcutta, near Murshidabad, then the capital of the Nawab of Bengal. The opponents were Siraj Ud Daulah, the last independent Nawab of Bengal, and the British East India Company.
