Um...due to difference in density, oil floats on water so one can scrap off the top layer (of oil), from the mixture :D

Oil and water aren't miscible (ie. the don't mix to form a solution). Due to difference in density, oil comes on top of water, forming a definite layer. One can scrape off this layer  of oil and separate the two liquids. Good day to you. :D
