Ethanol is being used as a fuel by mixing it with the gasoline. Mostly ethanol used for fuel is being blended into gasoline at concentrations of 5 to 10 percent. It is also used to formulate a blend with diesel fuel known as "E- Diesel". Methanol is highly toxic in nature. It has about half the energy density as gasoline. This means that you'd need to fill your fuel tank twice as often, or should have half the range in your vehicle. The toxicity of methanol is grossly overstated and so the problem of "invisible" flames. The fact is that when methanol is used as vehicle fuel, is always mixed with sufficient amount of gasoline to make the flames visible.
